We are a 100% volunteer-run community sports club turning kids from the streets into national and international champions — and we need your support to grow.
Ealing Weightlifting Club CIC was founded on one simple belief: big champions start as small kids in local schools. For over a decade, we have operated entirely on a voluntary basis — no paid staff, no external funding — driven purely by passion for our community.
We have trained more than 1,350 young people across 28 schools and 6 West London boroughs — Ealing, Harrow, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Hammersmith, and Richmond. We have been the central excellence hub for the London Youth Games, coaching athletes across all these boroughs.
Our members are not just athletes. They are refugees finding belonging, young people escaping the streets, children with special needs discovering their strength, and women — who make up 75% of our club — breaking barriers in a historically male sport.
Despite all of this, we operate from a cramped, outdated facility. We have planning permission for a gym extension that will allow us to re-open our doors to schools, launch the Gladiator Kids Challenge, and expand our programmes for refugees, youth at risk, and people with special needs.
Our cause has been recognised at the highest levels. Ealing MP has been actively supporting our case, connecting us to find the right funding opportunities, and the Mayor's Office has expressed concern and willingness to help. The Ealing Times has covered our story. We have 1,000 petition signatures from the public.
The Fantastic 4 Challenge on 18 July 2026 is our community fundraiser to help bridge the gap and make the extension a reality. Every penny goes directly to the club extension fund.
The Gladiator Kids Challenge is our flagship outreach programme — connecting with schools to bring children off the streets and into a safe, structured, high-energy environment.
We go directly into schools, introduce weightlifting as a discipline, and invite young people into the club. We have previously partnered with 28 schools and are ready to scale again with the extension.
We give young people — especially those at risk of gang involvement — a safe place to channel their energy, build discipline, and find their identity in sport rather than the streets.
We welcome refugees and people from all backgrounds. We actively serve people with low incomes, special needs, and those who feel sport is not for them.
75% of our members are women. We have broken the stereotype of weightlifting as a male sport and created a welcoming, empowering environment for women and girls of all ages.
Sport is the best intervention. We give young people a positive outlet, a coach who believes in them, and a team that becomes their family. The results speak for themselves.
From local kids in Ealing schools to national record holders and World Championship competitors — we have proven that with the right environment, any child can become extraordinary.
Our athletes have gone from beginners to national and international champions. Here is what your support makes possible.
We have planning permission. We have community support. We have MP backing. We just need to get the extension built so we can open our doors to the next generation.
